Tail stock:-

Height can be varied while working with different index centres while the angle of inclination can be changed for various machining applications. The tip of centre is finely rotatable. The dead centre of the tail stock should be in line with the centre of the rotary table. 

Uses 

• It is used as part of an engineering lathe, wood-turning lathe, or used in conjunction with a rotary table on a milling machine.
• Usually used to apply support to the longitudinal rotary axis of a workpiece being machined. A lathe centre is mounted in the tail stock and inserted against the sides of a hole in the centre of the workpiece. A tailstock has a Dead centre, while headstock has Live Centre. A Tail stock is particularly useful when the workpiece is relatively long and slender.
